June 6, 2024 Lewes District Council Cabinet (Other) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To approve draft Sustainable
Procurement Policy which outlines both councils’ approach to
sourcing goods and services in a way that is environmentally
sustainable and has positive impacts on the local economy and
communities.
Content
(Key
decision):
(1) To seek members approval of
the policy, subject to final sign off by the Chief Executive in
consultation with the Leader of the Council and Cabinet member for
finance, assets and community wealth building.
(2) To highlight all companies
that have been awarded a new contract with the Council, who have
met the sustainability criteria, in the Council’s Contracts
Register.
(3) To consider making
provision in the Council’s procurement policy, where
appropriate, for credit to be given to suppliers/contractors during
the tendering process, who can demonstrate that they are working
within the Council’s existing best value framework for
sustainability and /or have a recognised accreditation in respect
of their own sustainability policies and achievements. This is
subject to ensuring that the policy is not thereby distorted so as
to prejudice small and medium size enterprises.
