Proposed introduction of a fee
for re-rating visits for food businesses under the Food Hygiene
Rerating Scheme.

Content

To agree to introduce a fee, as
proposed in the report, to revisit a food business under the Food
Hygiene Rating Scheme when requested by the business and where
there is no statutory requirement to provide a re-inspection. The
fee will be on a full cost recovery basis and be implemented from 1
April 2025.

Reasons for the decision

To provide a choice for food
businesses to pay for a service to be revisited in a shorter time
frame or alternatively to not pay and wait up to 3-6 months for a
revisit for rescoring purposes.

Alternative options considered

To not introduce a
fee.
