Purpose

The consider the request from
the Royal Navy for the Borough of Eastbourne to repledge its
affiliation with HMS Puncher.

Content

(1) 
To repledge the affiliation between the Borough of
Eastbourne and HMS Puncher.
 
(2) 
To delegate authority to the Assistant Director
– People and Governance to finalise the Memorandum of
Understanding, in consultation with the Leader of the Council,
Mayor of Eastbourne, Armed Forces Covenant Champion and HMS
Puncher, prior to a re-signing ceremony taking place.

Reasons for the decision

To agree to repledge our
affiliation between the Borough of Eastbourne and HMS Puncher will
continue to demonstrate the council’s support and commitment
to the wider military commitment and is an opportunity to work in
partnership for the benefit of Eastbourne beyond the
borough’s borders.

Alternative options considered

To not repledge the
affiliation, that has existed since 1999.
