Purpose

Phase 2 of the Lewes Local Plan
for public consultation.
 
This phase is focussed on the
spatial strategy of the local plan, having consulted on the
detailed policies under phase 1. Sites which are being considered
for allocation are identified under the spatial strategy. An eight
week consultation to start as soon as possible after the Cabinet
meeting could be extended to 10 weeks to take in account the
Christmas/Newyear period as was done for phase 1.
 
The updated Local Development
Scheme (sets out the timetable for submitting the final version of
the plan to government for independent examination by December
2026, thereby complying with its deadline.
 
The decision being sought is
for Cabinet approval to undertake public consultation on the Local
Plan as part of the preparation of the Lewes Local Plan as per
Planning legislation and Regulations.

Decision):
1)   
To approve the draft Lewes Local Plan (phase 2)
document for public consultation (Regulation 18), as set out in
Report Appendix 1 in accordance with the Regulations and the Local
Development Scheme (March 2025).                                            
2)   
That Cabinet delegates authority to the Chief
Executive, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning and
Infrastructure, to make any necessary minor editorial corrections
to the documents and the supporting evidence base prior to going
out to consultation.
