Purpose

The current housing allocations policy was implemented in January 2024. The sub regional Property Pool Plus Contract Board which oversees the allocations scheme has reviewed the policy and is proposing some changes. These fall into three categories: minor changes to improve clarity; minor policy changes that will impact on a relatively small number of applicants; and three significant changes to assist the participating local authorities to respond more effectively to the demand for social housing.

Liverpool City Council proposes to utilise the extension to discretion in the policy by directly matching available properties to homeless households in temporary accommodation. The details of this will be included in the Cabinet report.
