Decision

For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
 
1)   
Grant approval for the Council to undertake the following
procurement exercises for contractors to deliver the following
highways maintenance, repair and/or improvement projects, as
detailed in Appendices 1 – 7 to this report:

Anfield High Street Highway Improvement (Appendix 1)
·      
Lark Lane (Appendix 2);
·      
Queens Drive Highways Improvement (Appendix 3);
·      
Sefton Park Active Travel (Appendix 4);
·      
Speke Hall Road (Appendix 5);
·      
West Derby Road (Appendix 6)
·      
Great George Street, A5038  Safer Roads
(Appendix 7).

Alternative options considered

1.1         
Do nothing – the Council has a responsibility to
maintain the public highway for which it is the highways authority.
Doing nothing by not commencing these 11 intended procurements and
undertaking these works to the highway could result in a failure by
the Council to comply with those duties.
1.2         
In house provision – the council does not have in
house provision for the construction phases of the proposed schemes
and has no plans to incorporate such provision within the
council.
