Purpose

This report seeks approval to extend five
grants to organisations as per the ‘Silver Risk’
Domestic Abuse Support within Safe Accommodation Small Grants
Programme, previously awarded within ADCS/30/24

Decision

For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
1)   
Extend the grants and award the associated amounts to the five
organisations as per Appendix 1 to continue projects in line with
the criteria of support within Safe Accommodation as per the
Domestic Abuse Act 2021 for a further 12 month period from
1st September 2025.

Alternative options considered

1.1         
To not extend the grants for the domestic abuse support within safe
accommodation small grants programme. This option was dismissed, as
not extending the most successful grants, which provide a range of
domestic abuse support interventions within safe accommodation is
likely to place the Council in breach of its legal obligations
regarding the provision of domestic abuse support and safe
accommodation.

This option would also place the Council at risk of additional
pressure on the Temporary Accommodation budget as the services are
providing significant support to maintain victim survivors in
alternative accommodation. Lastly, it would cease the specialist
support for male victims, those from the LGBTQ+ community and those
fleeing Honour Based Abuse (HBA).
