Purpose

This report seeks approval to award grants to
seven organisations to undertake projects in line with the criteria
of Domestic Abuse Support within Safe Accommodation as per the
Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

Decision

For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
 
1)   
Award the grants and associated amounts to the seven organisations
as per Appendix 1 to undertake projects in line with the criteria
of Domestic Abuse Support within Safe Accommodation as per the
Domestic Abuse Act 2021, for a period of 12 months, following a
fair and transparent process.

Alternative options considered

1.1         
To not award the grants for the domestic abuse support within safe
accommodation small grants programme. This option was dismissed, as
not awarding the grants, which provide a range of domestic abuse
support interventions within safe accommodation is likely to place
the Council in breach of its legal obligations regarding the
provision of domestic abuse support and safe accommodation.

This option would also place the Council at risk of additional
pressure on the Temporary Accommodation budget as the services are
providing significant support to maintain victim survivors safely
in their own home or alternative accommodation, including
resettlement.
