Purpose
Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership
(MVRP) have been funded by the Home Office to pilot Young Futures
Prevention Panels. These panels will support children aged 10-17
who have committed two or more criminal offences which resulted in
No Further Action by Police and who are not open to support from
any services. Liverpool bid competitively against the other
Merseyside boroughs for the opportunity and have been granted
£200,000 to establish this pilot in North Liverpool from
October 2025 until March 2026. Safer, Stronger Communities will be
working closely with Children's Services to coordinate and monitor
the impact and effectiveness of these panels.
MVRP have granted funding for a 6 month secondment post for a panel
coordinator, grants for four community intervention delivery
providers, and engagement materials.
Decision
For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
1)
Accept £200,000 grant funding and enter into grant agreement
with Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership;
2)
Enter into grant funding agreements with four community delivery
providers who will work with the children and young people;
Alternative options considered
1.1
Do nothing – This would mean that there is a risk that the
children and young people identified as meeting the eligibility
criteria for the prevention panels will not meet existing
thresholds for support on business-as-usual pathways.
