Purpose

Approval of the final detailed design for
works associated with delivery of the Natural Flood Management
Programme

Decision

For the reasons set out in this report and its
appendices, the Corporate Director has decided to:
1)
Commence relevant procurement processes for the provision of the
natural flood management works commencing in early 2026 for a total
estimated value of up to £0.17m.

Alternative options considered

The alternative options for consideration
are:

·
Do nothing and accept that local flood risk will increase and that
we can expect to see adverse impacts on people and increasing
damage to buildings, businesses, and land.
·
Identify alternative or additional sites for works and accept that
this will:
o
jeopardise the funding;
o
remove works from the Environment Agency approved strategic sites
that can best accommodate flood alleviation works; and
o
weaken the overall impact of the whole project along the catchment
of the River Alt.

The preferred option is to proceed with
procurement to deliver the works as outlined in Appendix A.
