Purpose

Report seeking approval to enter into a
Northern Forest grant agreement, for the planting and establishment
of 524 heavy standard trees - 2025/26

Decision

For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
1)   
Enter into a grant agreement with the Community Forest Trust for
the acceptance and utilisation of the sum of £246,694
representing part funding for the planting and establishment of 526
standard trees within Liverpool.
 

Alternative options considered

Doing nothing would lead to a lost opportunity
for eligible grant to provide support for the ongoing establishment
and maintenance of tree stock. Not accepting the grant would mean
that there would be a significant reduction (up to 50%) in the
number of trees and limit the opportunity to distribute the
location of planting schemes across the city, beyond those areas
generating s106 funding for trees.
