Purpose

This report seeks approval to extend four
grants to organisations as per the Domestic Abuse Support within
Safe Accommodation Small Grants Programme

Decision

For the reasons set out in this report, the
Corporate Director has decided to:
 
Extend the grants and award the associated
amounts to the four organisations as per Appendix 1 to continue
projects in line with the criteria of support within Safe
Accommodation as per the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 for a further
12-month period to be effective as from 1st December
2025.

Alternative options considered

To not extend the grants for the domestic
abuse support within safe accommodation small grants programme.
This option was dismissed, as not extending the most successful
grants is likely to place the Council in breach of its legal
obligations regarding the provision of domestic abuse support and
safe accommodation.
 
This option would also place the Council at
risk of additional pressure on the Temporary Accommodation budget
as the services are providing significant support to maintain
victim survivors safely in their own home or alternative
accommodation, including reducing barriers for those victim
survivors with complex needs who are rough sleeping and require
more specialised DA support to access routes into
accommodation.
