About
The Licensing Committee is responsible for overseeing and exercising the council's licensing and registration functions. It makes recommendations to the Council on policies and regulations related to the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2004, as well as setting fees for various licensing activities, including Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licences. The committee also directly handles licensing and registration for a range of activities, such as sex establishments, scrap metal dealers, hackney carriages and private hire, street collections, and society lotteries. It also considers byelaws for council-controlled land and premises, including the River Blackwater.
