Purpose
Report seeking approval to proceed with
procurement of School Meals Catering Contract for Primary,
Secondary and Special Schools and to delegate decision on contract
award to Executive Director of Children Lifelong Learning
Decision
RESOLVED:
Cabinet is asked to:
A. Approve the procurement by
the council of a central school meals catering contract for
primary, secondary and special schools for an initial term of 3
years from 1 August 2026 with the option for extension(s) to be
granted for a further period of up to a maximum of a further 2
years at the council’s sole discretion; and
B. Agree delegation of
authority to award the subsequent contract/s arising from this
procurement exercise to the Executive Director for Children
Lifelong Learning and Families department in consultation with the
Lead Member for Jobs, Skills & Education. The approximate date
of the contract award decision will be included on the Corporate
Forward Plan and the call-in period will
still be observed; and
C. Agree further delegation of
authority to exercise the option to extend the contract/s so
awarded to the Executive Director for Children Lifelong Learning
and Families department in consultation with the Lead Member for
Jobs, Skills & Education.
D. Note that the new contract
will provide that all catering staff working in the schools served
will be paid the London Living Wage
