Purpose

Report noting the performance of the new recycling and waste collection contract and requesting approval for capital growth to improve containerisation for kerbside households. Also to approve a contract variation and in consultation with the cabinet member, to delegate approval for future contract variations to the Executive Director.

Decision

RESOLVED:

Cabinet is asked to:

A. Note the key performance indicators for the first year following the award of the contract for Recycling and Waste Collection Services on 1 April 2025.

B. Approve a variation of the contract with Veolia for £92k for 2026/27 for the free bulky waste service.

C. Note the financial impact and approve the £750k capital growth required to implement improved containerisation to all kerbside households for dry, mixed recycling.

D. Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Environment, Civic Pride and Climate in consultation with the Lead Member for Cleaner Streets, Environment and Transport to approve any subsequent contract variations permitted by the Councils Contract Standing Orders.
