Purpose

To consider submitting a response to the Government’s Spatial Development non-statutory consultation and to express an interest in becoming a new Foundation Strategic Authority.

Decision

  1. That Milton Keynes City Council confirms its support for the proposed Spatial Development Strategy area of Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council, Luton Borough Council and Milton Keynes City Council, as set out in the letter attached as an Annex to the report.
  2. That the letter be noted as the response to government by the Leader of the Council. This letter will be submitted to UK government alongside the Council’s formal response to the Spatial Development Strategy (SDS) consultation as a clear indication of intent from Milton Keynes City Council and its partners to work together on this footprint.
  3. That authority be delegated to the Director of Planning and Placemaking, in conjunction with the Leader of the Council, to submit the City Council’s formal response to the SDS non-statutory consultation, and to make inconsequential and other minor grammatical, formatting and photographic changes to the final response, as required.
