Purpose

To consider submitting a response to the
Government’s Spatial Development non-statutory consultation
and to express an interest in becoming a new Foundation Strategic
Authority.

Content

1.         That
Milton Keynes City Council confirms its support for the proposed
Spatial Development Strategy area of Bedford Borough Council,
Central Bedfordshire Council, Luton Borough Council and Milton
Keynes City Council, as set out in the letter attached as an Annex
to the report.

2.         That the
letter be noted as the response to government by the Leader of the
Council. This letter will be submitted to UK government alongside
the Council’s formal response to the Spatial Development
Strategy (SDS) consultation as a clear indication of intent from
Milton Keynes City Council and its partners to work together on
this footprint.

3.         That authority
be delegated to the Director of Planning and Placemaking, in
conjunction with the Leader of the Council, to submit the City
Council’s formal response to the SDS non-statutory
consultation, and to make inconsequential and other minor
grammatical, formatting and photographic changes to the final
response, as required.
