Purpose

To consider adopting powers to tow illegally parked vehicles and to delegate authority, where necessary, to third parties to carry out such towing.

Decision

  1. That the Vehicle Removal Policy (attached as an Annex to the report), be adopted.
  2. That authority be delegated to the Director of Customer and Community Services, in consultation with the Cabinet member for Regulatory Services and Director of Law and Governance, to:

(a)        exercise powers for the clamping and towing of vehicles, under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and associated legislation; and

(b)       make minor, consequential, or typographical amendments to the Vehicle Removal Policy.
