Purpose

To consider approving the submission of the Milton Keynes UK City of Culture 2029 competition bid.

Decision

RESOLVED:

1. 1.      That the public and press be excluded from the meeting by virtue of Paragraph 3 (Information relating to the Financial or Business Affairs of the Authority) of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1792, in order that the meeting may consider the exempt annex to the report.
2. 2.      That Cabinet note the update on the UK City of Culture 2029 application process and timetable.
3. 3.      That Cabinet note the scale of the financial commitment and associated risks at this stage of the process as set out in the Annex to the report.
4. 4.      That authority is delegated to the Chief Executive Officer, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, to:

a)            approve the financial contribution; and

b)            finalise and submit the bid.
