Purpose

To consider approving an application to the
Department for Transport for moving traffic enforcement powers
using cameras and to proceed with the implementation of ten initial
sites, noting the outcome of the recent parking and moving traffic
contravention exercise.

Content

1.         That
delegated authority be given to the Director of Environment and
Property, in consultation with the Cabinet member, to submit the
Council’s application to the Department for Transport
(DfT) for powers to enforce moving
traffic offences under Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act (TMA)
2004.

2.         That,
subject to DfT granting these powers,
the implementation of traffic enforcement measures at the eight
identified locations, to address moving traffic contraventions
which will enhance road safety and reduce instances of obstructive
parking, particularly outside schools, be approved.
