Officer
made a presentation to the Planning Committee on Application No: P2025/0270 as
detailed in the circulated report.
Felling
of 62 coniferous trees (a mix of Douglas Fir, Lawson Cypress, Sitka Spruce,
Corsican Pine, Scots Pine and Western Hemlock protected by Tree Preservation
Order T266/W1 as detailed in the circulated report.
The
Local Ward Member (Cllr. C. Lewis) had requested that the application be
determined by the Planning Committee and was present to give their
representations at the meeting.
RESOLVED:
That
Application No P2025/0270 be REFUSED for the following reasons:
That
insufficient justification has been provided on health and safety grounds to
warrant the felling of 62 protected trees, which as a collective contribute
significantly to the character and appearance of the
application
site and the surrounding area as a whole. It is therefore
considered
that the loss of the 62 Trees, which are a natural asset, would be to the
detriment of the area, contrary to the objectives of Policy EN7 of the Neath
Port Talbot Adopted Local Development Plan and Future Wales Policy 9 (Resilient
Ecological Networks and Green Infrastructure).
