A Standing Advisory Council on Religious
Education (SACRE) is an independent body in the United Kingdom that
considers the provision of religious education in the area under
the jurisdiction of its Local Authority. ... The legal constitution
of SACREs is set out in the 1996 Education Act Paragraph 390
subsection (4).
Newham’s Standing Advisory Council on
Religious Education (SACRE) is such a statutory body set up to
review the agreed syllabus on Religious Education and agree
determinations for collective worship.
The membership on SACRE is made of representatives from the Local
Authority, teachers, Church of England and representatives of the
various faiths across Newham.
SACREs are also required to publish an annual
