To extend the contract with TH Michaels Ltd to
carry out refurbishment works to facilitate Rykneld Homes
relocation from Pioneer House to Mill Lane Offices.
Additional contract sum £221,474.56.

Reasons for the decision

TH Michael were procured through competitive
tender to carry out the recent Mill Lane Council Chamber
refurbishment/relocation. The contract was delivered successfully
and demonstrated TH Michael’s ability to work to tight
deadlines in an operational environment. TH Michael are familiar
with Mill Lane and the level/specification of the additional works
is broadly similar making them well placed to deliver.
The deadline for completion of the works is short and any gains
from tendering would be lost through delays to Rykneld Homes
relocation and the resultant ongoing operational costs of Pioneer
House.

Alternative options considered

Retendering has been considered however any
financial gains are considered to be minimal and far outweighed by
the ongoing operational costs of Pioneer House.
