Purpose
To consider and approve Appointments to the North East CA Cabinet, Committees and other bodies.
Decision
Resolved to:
- note the appointment by the constituent councils of the members and substitute members to the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority’s Cabinet set out in Appendix 1;
- note the appointment by the Mayor of Mayor Karen Clark as the Deputy Mayor;
- agree the allocation of Cabinet portfolios set out in Appendix 2 and agree that authority be delegated to the Chief Executive, in consultation with the relevant Portfolio Holder and Mayor, to finalise the membership of each Portfolio Advisory Board;
- agree the schedule of meetings for the municipal year 2026/27 set out in Appendix 3;
- agree the membership of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee set out in Appendix 4;
- agree the appointment of Councillor John Cook as Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee;
- agree the membership of the Audit and Standards Committee set out in Appendix 5;
- agree to extend by 2 years the term of
(a) Dave Willis OBE as independent chair of the Audit and Standards Committee and
(b) Eric Richards as independent person for the standards regime;
- agree the appointment of members and substitute members to the Transport for the North’s Board and associated boards and committees as set out in section 5; and
- authorise the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Mayor and the Chair of the Business Advisory Council (formerly known as the Business and Economy Board), to undertake a recruitment exercise and appoint new members to the Business Advisory Council.
