Purpose

On 28th January 2026 the Director of Regeneration and Economic Development authorised
(1) that notices for the proposal should be prepared and advertised in line with relevant statutory requirements; and
(2) that, in the event that no objections were received following the period of consultation, that the circumstances do not warrant the holding of a local inquiry; and
(3) that if no objections were received following the period of consultation required by statute, that a controlled pedestrian road crossing (zebra crossing) be installed on Wallington Avenue, North Shields, adjacent to Monkhouse Primary School.

The notices were prepared and advertised in accordance with the statutory requirements and no objections were received during the statutory advertising period.

Therefore, the circumstances do not warrant the holding of a Public Inquiry and a controlled pedestrian road crossing (zebra crossing) should be installed on Wallington Avenue, North Shields, adjacent to Monkhouse Primary School, in accordance with section 1.5.2 and Appendix 1 of the Delegated Decision Report of the 28th January 2026.
