Grant of Easement to provide access to Ashby Canal for the purpose of rewatering and subsequent maintenance

Reasons for the decision

A delegation exists under the Constitution, that enables the grant of leases and easements by the Strategic Director in consultation with the S151 Officer and Portfolio holder. Such decisions should be recorded.

Alternative options considered

To not grant the easement. This course of action would have presented an additional obstacle to the rewatering of Ashby Canal which would have been contrary to the District Wide Regeneration Framework which seeks to support canal rewatering.
