About

The North Yorkshire Local Access Forum provides statutory advice on public rights of way and access to land. It advises local authorities and other bodies, which are required to consider its recommendations when carrying out their functions. The Forum aims to maximise opportunities for improved access, advocating for higher rights, maintaining and upgrading existing routes, and developing new connections. It seeks to ensure access is available for the widest range of users, including families, children, minority groups, and those with disabilities, and supports the development of permanent access over temporary arrangements. The Forum also works to promote responsible sharing of routes and address illegal use.
