Proposed Increase in the Academy Conversion Fee
March 4, 2025 Executive Member for Education, Learning & Skills (Cabinet member) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
The Executive Member has approved for the proposed increase in the Academy conversion charge for the 2025/26 financial year to £7,600.
Reasons for the decision
The charge is levied to Academy Trusts when individual schools voluntarily convert to academy status and reflects the costs incurred by various departments in the Council in administering the conversion process.
The increase agreed for the 2025/26 financial year reflects the requirement for an increased amount of time to be utilised in the administration of individual conversion processes.
The charge, and allocation of funds within the organisation, is administered within the Strategic Planning and Finance teams in the Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS), in accordance with an agreed apportionment schedule.
