Decision

The proposal to install a new cattle grid in
Cropton, North Yorkshire for the purposes of controlling the
passage of animals along the highway has been approved.

Whilst objections were received, they had all been considered and
ameliorated by the design and location of the cattle grid.

Reasons for the decision

In the interest of highway safety and to
control sheep grazing on common land and is considered necessary
for controlling the passage of animals along the highway.

Alternative options considered

There are no alternative ways of providing the
barrier to livestock. The cattlegrid will ensure there is no
conflict between livestock and other road users on inappropriate
sections of the road.
