Decision

The Assistant Chief Executive – Local
Engagement has approved a variation to the Tadcaster and Selby
District Business Support Scheme agreement, to ensure that the fund
can be more flexibly utilised to support businesses across the
county who are impacted by extreme weather events.

Reasons for the decision

After on-going discussions with TRCF
(administrators of the scheme), it is felt that this fund would
benefit from a variation so that it can be more flexibly used, and
to more accurately reflect, and support demand that has been felt
across North Yorkshire in recent years. For the remaining funding
of £43,306, the area of benefit will be broadened to include
the entirety of North Yorkshire, and support will be offered to
businesses experiencing the impact of any extreme weather-related
event (as defined by North Yorkshire Council).

Alternative options considered

Continue with the current agreement – as
there has been no further demand from the Tadcaster (or wider
former Selby District) community since 2022/23, and other business
communities across North Yorkshire have since been adversely
impacted because of extreme weather-related events, this option was
discounted.
