Reasons for the decision

To enable North Yorkshire Council to seek
external capital funding to support a priority regeneration project
identified through the Town Investment Plan programme.

Alternative options considered

The option of not applying for external
funding was discounted, as it would limit the Council’s
ability to deliver the improvements and result in missed
opportunities to enhance the economic, social and cultural
potential of Ripon Market Place
