Decision

The Corporate Director Community Development, in consultation with the Assistant Director Resources, approves North Yorkshire Council’s submission of an Expression of Interest to the Better Cancer Care Grant for the North Yorkshire Cancer Wellbeing Network, seeking £150,000 per year for three years, plus £30,000 for evaluation, totalling £480,000.

Reasons for the decision

The Better Cancer Care Grant provides an opportunity to secure £480,000 of external funding to develop the North Yorkshire Cancer Wellbeing Network, improving access to coordinated, community-based support for people affected by cancer across North Yorkshire.

The funding would support programme delivery, workforce development and training, partnership working with the VCSE sector and evaluation.

As the funding opportunity is currently at Expression of Interest stage, detailed grant Terms and Conditions are not yet available and will be considered at formal application stage if the EOI is successful.

Alternative options considered

Do not submit an Expression of Interest.

This was rejected as North Yorkshire would lose the opportunity to secure external investment to develop and strengthen cancer wellbeing support across the county.
