October 13, 2026 Assistant Director - Highways & Infrastructure (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
To undertake a procurement exercise for a design and supply contract for 4No resin infused FRP Footbridges under NEC4 supply contract on Yortender.
Reasons for the decision
4 Nos Footbridges (Wilsill Footbridge, Church Footbridge Stokesley, Horton Footbridge and Dove Footbridge) are in poor condition and are beyond economic repair. Resin infused footbridges provide a deck with a 120 year design life, allowing the use of timber for parapets ensuring the bridges blend into their surroundings.
Alternative options considered
Alternative materials, including timber, galvanised steel and pultruded FRP sections, were considered during the design process. However, these options were discounted due to aesthetic and durability considerations. The chosen materials ensure that the bridges complement their surrounding environment while providing a robust, long-lasting solution that minimises future maintenance requirements.
