Decision

The Corporate Director of Community Development has approved North Yorkshire Council's response to the Government consultation on Standard Planning Agreements for Medium-Sized Sites and authorise its submission.

Reasons for the decision

To enable North Yorkshire Council to make a formal representation to the Government consultation on Standard Planning Agreements for Medium-Sized Sites, supporting the Council's interest in ensuring that future standard templates are practical, effective and sufficiently flexible to reflect local circumstances.

Alternative options considered

Option 1: Do not submit a response to the consultation.
This option was rejected as it would remove the opportunity for North Yorkshire Council to influence the development of the proposed standard planning agreement templates and supporting guidance, despite the potential implications for services involved in the negotiation, administration, monitoring and enforcement of Section 106 agreements.

Option 2: Submit a limited response addressing only selected aspects of the consultation.
This option was rejected as a coordinated corporate response reflects the expertise and experience of the relevant services and provides a more comprehensive representation of the Council's views.
