Purpose

Approval is sought to undertake refurbishment works to the pool hall at Blyth Sports Centre.

Decision

RESOLVED that:-

(a) Cabinet approve capital expenditure of £1.600 million (2026-27 £0.985 million and 2027-2028 £0.615 million) for refurbishment works to the swimming pool hall at Blyth Sports Centre, funded from theLeisure Buildings Improvement Works budget;

(b) Cabinet approve the use of contingency up to a value of £0.745 million for compensation payments payable to Places Leisure for 2026-27 and 2027-28 and delegate authority to the Executive Director for Public Health, Inequalities and Stronger Communities, in consultation with the relevant portfolio holder, to manage such financial adjustments in accordance with the terms of the Leisure Operating Contract dated 31st May 2024; and

(c ) Cabinet delegate authority to the Executive Director of Place and Regeneration, in consultation with the relevant Portfolio Holder, to enter into any contracts relating to the project, including appointments of a design team and a construction contractor, subject to confirmation of associated funding being in place and compliant procurement processes having been followed.
