The Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire and Rescue Authority is responsible for ensuring the Fire and Rescue Service has the necessary people, equipment, and training to perform its duties. These duties include fire prevention, fire safety, firefighting, rescue operations, road traffic collision extrication, and responding to other emergencies like flooding or terrorism.
As a Combined Fire Authority, it comprises councillors from both Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council. The Authority makes key decisions on strategy, policy, and budget. The Community Safety Committee is one of several sub-committees that report to the full Fire Authority.
