Decision

The vote, undertaken by way of a show of hands, was carried.

RESOLVED

(a)  That the Leadership Development update be noted.

(b)  That the Leader, or Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, write to the Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary/Minister responsible for Education, inviting them to visit Pembrokeshire to experience and learn more about the Pembs 50 Programme and for the visit to include hearing directly from programme participants and representatives of the Education Directorate about their experiences, learning and the impact of the programme.

The vote, undertaken by way of a roll call, was carried. The votes were recorded as follows:

For the Motion: Councillors Joshua Beynon, Alec Cormack, David Howlett, Nick Neumann, Bethan Price, Rhys Jordan, Viv Stoddart and Alun Wills and Mr James Parkin [9]

There were no votes against the motion.

[Councillor Huw Murphy abstained from voting.]

[Councillor Maureen Bowen lost connection during the time of voting.]

RESOLVED

That a recommendation be made to Cabinet, for Pembrokeshire County Council to make a strategic commitment to the ‘Pembs 50’ Programme for a minimum period of five years, to provide the longer-term support and continuity required to embed the programme and maximise its potential benefits for participants, schools and the wider education system in Pembrokeshire.

RESOLVED

That a recommendation be made to Cabinet, for the Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration to consider the desirability of implementing standard platforms, for phonics, numeracy and professional developments in all schools in the County and for consideration to be given to such platforms being funded centrally, as part of the upcoming budget considerations.
