The North York Moors National Park Authority is responsible for conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage of the National Park. It promotes opportunities for public understanding and enjoyment of the Park's special qualities, while also fostering the economic and social well-being of local communities. The Authority works with other agencies to promote the area's development and prepares National Park Management Plans outlining policies for managing the Park and its functions. In cases of conflict between its purposes, greater weight is given to conservation and enhancement.
