Full council record
Purpose

To consider the proposed changes to polling
districts and polling places arising from the review and to agree
final recommendations.

Content

Consideration was given to a report of the
Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate / Chief Executive
detailing the consultation responses to the statutory review of
Polling Districts and Polling Places and sought a recommendation to
Council for the approval of the proposed changes arising from the
statutory review.

It was reported that compulsory reviews must
be started and completed within the period of 16 months that starts
on 1 October of every fifth year after 1 October 2013.  With a United Kingdom Parliamentary election
required prior to 28 January 2025 and new UK Parliamentary
constituency boundaries expected to come into effect at that
election alongside changes to elections procedures contained within
the Elections Act 2022, determination was required by Council on 13
December 2023 to enable implementation.

Members were informed that the proposal to use
Cronkeyshaw Club on Cronkeyshaw Road in the Central Rochdale Ward had
been withdrawn and that it would be replaced by HMR Community
Services Hub on Quarry Street.

RESOLVED
That Council be advised with the amendment to
the use of Cronkeyshaw Club, the Audit
and Governance Committee recommends approval of the proposal as
detailed within the submitted report.
