Purpose

To approve the CYPP launching its 2024-27
plan

Content

The Cabinet considered
a report of the Director of Children’s Services / Cabinet
Member for Children and Education which sought to inform of the
draft Children and Young People’s Plan 2024-2027. The Plan
was part of the Council’s Policy Framework and, as such,
would be taken to Full Council for approval subject to the document
being endorsed by the Cabinet.

The Senior Performance
and Achievement Officer was in attendance to present the report and
to answer the questions of the Cabinet Members.

Resolved that the
Children and Young People’s Plan 2024-2027 be endorsed and
recommended to Full Council for approval.

Reason for
decision:
The approach adopted
by Children and Young People Partnership for the 2024-27 plan is
innovative and has been drawn up with wide engagement of children,
young people, and the organisations that work with them. It
provides in accordance with the values of being pioneering, proud
and passionate, a valuable driver for promoting cooperation between
the authority and relevant partners who exercise functions, or are
engaged in activities, in relation to children of the borough over
the next three years.

Alternatives
considered and rejected:
Production of a plan
on the same model as 2014-17, 2017-20 and 2021-23, drawing on the
judgement of professionals without the direct input of the voice of
children and young people.

Not producing a plan,
and conducting the business of the Children and Young People
Partnership less formally. This option has not been chosen, as the
Children and Young People Partnership Plan is an existing document
and it provides a clear framework and strategic direction for all
partners for the next three years.
