About

The Climate Change Steering Group was established by Cabinet to develop and initiate steps for Rother District Council to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, following a 'Climate Emergency' declaration.

It is responsible for producing an action plan to make council operations carbon neutral, identifying powers to encourage district-wide carbon neutrality, and reviewing council policies. The group also consults with external bodies, identifies community climate champions, and investigates funding sources and non-CO2 emissions.

Its scope includes council operations, carbon footprint, technology, behaviour change, property assets, and financial requirements, as well as wider climate change issues influenced by the council.
