Appendix 9, Section 4C3, of the
Council’s Constitution provides that “The Strategic
Director of Adult Care, Housing and Public Health is authorised to
discharge executive functions through the commissioning and
provision of social services for adults and public health services
for the whole population and delivery of housing for the Borough,
including: (4) Strategic Commissioning; (a)
Commissioning”.
Decision:
Between April 2025 and September 2025, Adult
Care, Housing and Public Health Strategic Commissioning Business
Unit will undertake consultation and engagement activity with
unpaid carers and other identified stakeholders to inform the
development of a revised Carers Strategy, to be launched in April
2026.
Reasons for the Decision:
The Borough That Cares Strategic Framework
concludes in 2025 and work is commencing
to revise the Strategy for launch in 2026.
To ensure the new strategy builds on the
achievements of the current, reflects the needs and views of unpaid
carers and the Council discharges its statutory duties under the
Care Act to support unpaid carers, a programme of consultation and
engagement has been approved.
