Delegation contained in the relevant Sub-Scheme of
Delegation.

This
report seeks to exercise the delegation to the Assistant Director
for Planning, Regeneration & Transport and within the Sub
Scheme of Delegation - Strategic Director of Regeneration and
Environment (page 22), ‘in conjunction with the Government
Departments or other bodies, the implementation of any decision in
respect of the promotion of Economic Development and
Regeneration’ to undertake consultation related to the design
and implementation of the Our Places Fund scheme.

Decision:

To give consent to proceed with undertaking
consultation with stakeholders and local communities on the
proposed schemes as part of the Our Places Fund.

Reasons for the Decision:

To ensure local communities and stakeholders have a
clear understanding of the proposed plans as part of the Our Places
Fund, and confidence that they will be listened to and involved in
the consultation process.

Details of alternative options considered and
rejected:

Recommended: Public consultation and
engagement is essential to enable residents and stakeholders to
contribute to the Our Places Fund proposals. Therefore, the
undertaking of in person and online formats are recommended to
gather insights and data from stakeholders and local
communities.

Not recommended: The
Council may choose to develop and implement the proposals without
consultation. This option does not allow residents to feed into the
plans, risking the creation of public space schemes that
don’t meet the needs of the community. It is therefore not
recommended.
