Purpose

works contract with Henry Boot Construction Ltd for delivery of
early works as part of the wider Rotherham Markets & Library

Cabinet approved the enabling works for the
Rotherham Markets and Library development at its meeting on the 7th
August 2023.
At the same meeting the Cabinet delegated
authority to the Strategic Director of Regeneration of Environment,
in consultation with the S151 Officer and the Cabinet Member for
Jobs and Local Economy, to award contract(s) for the works
(Rotherham Markets and Library development) up to the values
detailed in Appendix 2 of the relevant Cabinet report.
An Officer Decision Notice on the 26 September
2023 confirmed the awarding of the Enabling Works contract and this
decision extends that contract, still within the values referred to
above.

Brief Description of
Decision:
The Council to agree the proposed extension to
existing contract in respect of enabling works for the Rotherham
Markets & Library development with Henry Boot Construction
Ltd.
Reasons for the Decision:
To maintain momentum behind the delivery
programme of one of the Council’s key regeneration projects
and ensure best possible value is secured.
Details of alternative options
considered and rejected:
The alternative option is not to extend the
enabling works contract. This option is not recommended, because it
will create programme delay while the main works contract is
agreed, which will result in further costs being incurred.
