Proposed 30mph extension and No Waiting at Any Time

Specific Delegation:
(If any)

To promote, consider objections
to and implement Traffic Regulation Orders under the Traffic
Regulation Act 1984.

Brief Description of
Decision:

The purpose of this report is
to consider an extension to the existing 30mph speed limit by
approximately 30m on Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh, as shown on Appendix
A, and also, to consider a proposed no waiting at any time
restriction on Kilnhurst Road, Rawmarsh, both sides of the road, a
length of approximately 193m, also shown on Appendix A. The key
recommendation of the report is to continue with the making of the
orders for the two proposals.

Reasons for the Decision:

There is a risk that without
implementing the proposed speed limit extension and no waiting at
any time restriction to better reflect the road environment, the
proposed traffic calming features may not reduce vehicle speeds, to
an appropriate level, as they travel along this section of
Kilnhurst Road, with the potential for a collision to
increase.

Details of alternative options
considered and rejected:

Do nothing and keep the
existing length of 30mph speed limit as it currently is, and do not
introduce the proposed no waiting at any time restriction which
would permit vehicles to park within the extents of the proposed
scheme, potentially affecting how drivers travel over the proposed
road humps.
This option is not being
promoted as this would not have the desired effect of improving the
road safety environment on this section of Kilnhurst Road, where
there is an existing primary school and a proposed new residential
development that is currently under construction.
