for works, goods and services, the seeking of     estimates, quotations and tenders, the
evaluation of the       same and acceptance of
tenders relating to contracts       for works, goods and
services in accordance with          
approved budgets or supplementary estimates

Where a contract for support and maintenance is
renewed within five years of the original contract, -authority to
award such a contract.

Brief Description of
Decision:

Following on from the evaluation process for
this tender its recommended that the award for the Plants., Trees
and Shrubs contract be awarded to J A Jones & Sons
 
Estimated Contract cost over the 4 year period of the contract is up to
£400,000 but this could varying dependent on job
requirements.
 

Reasons for the Decision:

The tenderers schedule or rates are a
considerable increase compared to the previous contract and
expected due to the current climate,
however these additional costs generally are made up and charged to
capital projects and external clients and will be factored in when
tenders are produced.

Details of alternative options
considered and rejected:

The procurement of plants, trees and shrubs is
fundamental for the council to carry out numerous planned schemes
with no inhouse alternative no other options were considered
