The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 introduced new
requirements for local authorities in relation to domestic abuse
services. As a result, the Government provided “new
burdens” funding. On
16th August 2021, the Council Cabinet agreed allocation
of the first year’s funding, with many of those commitments
recurring. The officer decision is to approve the allocation of the
remaining funding.
 
Decisions relating to the
allocation of the remaining funding were delegated to the Strategic
Director for Regeneration and Environment (Delegated
Officer).As per the Regeneration
and Environment Sub Scheme of delegation, section 7- 7. Other
functions 
The Assistant
Director is authorised to discharge any function not otherwise
reserved to the full Council, the Cabinet, a committee of the
Cabinet, a member of the Cabinet, a joint committee discharging
executive functions or another local authority, relevant to the
Assistant Director’s portfolio

Decision:

On
12 December 2022, DLUHC confirmed Domestic Abuse Duty funding for
the 2024-2025 financial year of £644,001. This report sets out proposals for the allocation
of this funding in 2024-2025 to support the implementation of the
Domestic Abuse Act 2021 statutory duty.
