Decision:

That the Tree
Management Protocol and Guidance –November 2023 be approved
and adopted.

Reasons for the Decision:

The Tree Management Protocol and Guidance
provides a guide for the effective management of the
Council’s tree stock, the protection of natural resources and
the requirement to resolve a number of
common issues raised through service requests.
 
The updated protocol includes
woodlands, updated risk management techniques and advice to schools
as well as clarifying a number of points
within the previous version.
 

Details of alternative options
considered and rejected:

The alternative
option of retaining the current protocol was not recommended
because a guide in relation to woodlands, updated risk management
techniques and advice to schools is necessary in order to guide officers, schools, Members and the
general public on these matters.
