“1. That Cabinet agrees to purchase the homes identified
in Exempt Appendix 1, subject to Ward Member consultation being
carried out, and agreement by the Assistant Director for Housing,
Cabinet Member for Housing and Section 151 Officer. This is subject
to the budget parameters as set out in the Council’s approved
Capital Programme.”.

Decision:
Approval to enter into contract
to purchase 16 East Crescent in East Dene, a Right to Buy buy-back
– identified in Appendix 1 to the June 2022 Cabinet
report.
16 East
Crescent is an adapted, four-bedroom house.
The date for
handover to the Council is subject to conclusion of negotiations.
The home will be brought into the Council’s existing housing
stock and made available for social rent.
Reasons for the
Decision:
The
decision has been taken in-line with the Cabinet approval, to
ensure that the Council can continue to deliver new council homes
to meet residents’ needs.
The
financial detail of the acquisition is set out within the capital
business case. It is not included within the decision record on the
basis that it is commercially sensitive. This is in-line with the
over-arching Cabinet report exemption.

options considered and rejected:
The
June 2022 Cabinet report considered deferring the acquisitions into
a later Cabinet report, but this was not recommended as it may have
resulted in one or more of the opportunities being
missed.
