– 2023/24, approved by Cabinet in January 2023.

That Cabinet approves the Council-owned sites listed
in Appendix 3 being brought forward to deliver new Council
homes.

Decision:

To approve the demolition of
the former Addison Road day centre in Maltby. The Council’s
Housing repairs and maintenance contractor: Equans, will oversee
delivery of the works.
 

Reasons for the
Decision:

Addison Road is a site
identified within Appendix 3 to the January 2023 Cabinet report and
demolition of the existing structures is necessary to support
planned redevelopment of the site for new Council homes.
 

Details of alternative
options considered and rejected:

Demolition is a routine site
development function which normally forms part of the construction
contract; however, construction is not due to start until
mid-2024.
 
Meanwhile, the structures have
already stood vacant for a considerable period, having been
decommissioned in 2022 further to Cabinet’s approval of an
earlier Adult Care service transformation report. The vacant
structures present a risk of anti-social behaviour and are
incurring holding (revenue) costs for the Council, therefore
earlier demolition is recommended.
