To award the Tree Service
contract to  Acorn Environmental Group and
enter into any necessary documentation
to affect the award of the contract. The supplier has been procured
in compliance with the Council’s Procurement Rules, and all
necessary due diligence has been carried out by the Council
Officers. Acorn Environmental Group is the recommended option based
on the collective quality, price and responses given within the
tender. The evaluation and moderation phase undertaken by Officers
scored them highest in comparison to other tender(s)
submitted.

Brief Description of
Decision:

To approve the procurement of a suitable tree
maintenance contractor for an initial period of 4 years with a
optional extension period of 2 years, from 9th January
2025, following an open procurement exercise and subsequent tender
evaluation process. The estimated value of this contract is
£2,000,000 during the contract period.

Reasons for the Decision:

To ensure that the Council is properly able to
manage its tree stock, thereby reducing safety risks to the public
and the financial and reputational risk to the Council.

An alternative in-house maintenance model was
considered and rejected for economic reasons.
